We want to reach the 20,000+ people in Starkville who are disconnected from a community of faith. The Orchard is called to reach people who are not in a relationship with Jesus or connected to a community of faith. Starkville has a population of 25,000 and we believe 12,000 of those people fit that description. Furthermore, Mississippi State University has a student body of 20,000 students. More than half of those students are not connected to a church while in school. We are called to invite them to be part of the people of community we are building here in Starkville.
We believe we will reach our vision by GROWING DEEP in the love of Christ and BRANCHING OUT to share that love.
One of the most vivid images of the kingdom of God in the Bible is a vineyard, or in our case an orchard. In John 15 Jesus is the vine, the Father is the gardener, and we are the branches. Every branch that abides in Jesus bears fruit. Our goal is to be a church that grows healthy and bears an incredible amount of fruit for the kingdom. Likewise, Jesus said that the kingdom of God is like a mustard seed, it starts small but when it grows it is enormous, providing shade for all.
We believe that if we Grow Deep and Branch Out then we will see God’s kingdom come and his will be done in Starkville as it is in heaven!
We believe in introducing people to Jesus.
We believe in growing people to look like Jesus.
We believe in transforming the community around us by helping people in need.
We believe that the Bible is the transformative Word of God.
We believe that life change best happens in small groups.
We will INTRODUCE people to Jesus.
We will GROW people to look like Jesus.
We will send them out to GO & act like Jesus in the world.
