WEDNESDAY - Romans 5:1-11

In our world today, peace can be elusive. With bosses emailing us after work, kids climbing over each other at the dinner table, aging parents repeatedly asking more and more from us, peace can be hard to find. We live in a world that is designed to keep us busy and occupied in order to maximize our own efficiency. Where in order to keep up with the demands of life, we must work and strive and live into the tensions. These tensions rise within our homes, between our marriages, in our workplace, and even with our closest friends. And at times, if we are not careful, this busy and distracted tension can rise between us and God due to our sin.

But God, in His infinite mercy, has made us right in His sight, offering us what we truly desire: peace. He has made a way for us to be made clean: through faith in Christ Jesus. It is this ‘undeserved privilege’ as Paul says, that allows us to now stand confidently and joyfully before the throne looking towards the future. When we look at the world around us and we see dissension and problems and worries, we need not fear. We have been given peace. Let us fix our eyes on Christ and stand confidently in what He has done for us.
